REVERSING SENSORS

How the Reversing Sensor Units Work
As the vehicle reverses towards an object, an audible buzzer, mounted inside the rear of the vehicle starts sounding at 3 beeps per second when the object is closer than 170cm to the rear of the vehicle. As the vehicle gets closer to the object the beeping frequency increases from 5 to 8 beeps per second. When the vehicle is about 30 cm from the object the beeping becomes constant (definitely time to stop!). As a result, the driver always knows exactly where the bumper is positioned in relation to an object. The sensor unit is powered off the reversing lights circuit in the vehicle so is only activated when reversing.

FRONT PARKING SENSORS

How the Front Sensor Units Work

The front units use both a compact visual display unit mounted on the dashboard inside the vehicle, as well as an audible beeper. The detection zones for the front units start at 30cm from the front bumper and go out to 90cm. The visual display unit shows bars coming together as the front bumper nears an obstacle and each detection zone is reached (90cm, 75cm, 60cm, 45cm and 30cm). There are left and right bars on the visual display indicating whether the obstacle is on the left or right hand side of the vehicle (or directly ahead). An audible beeper sounds a warning as the nearest detection zone is reached (30cm). At any time the front sensor unit can be de-activated by an on/off switch mounted on the dashboard of the vehicle. The size of the visual display unit is approximately 12cm(W) x 3cm(H) x 4cm(D).
